Upon inspection of thermostat, the technicians found that the thermostat wire was incorrectly wired to the thermostat base, so they rewired thermostat correctly, replaced the batteries, reprogrammed it, and re-secured the thermostat wire nuts at the unit that had loose connections. After getting the thermostat situated, the techs also discovered that the system had blown a fuse, so they replaced the three-amp fuses so they could continue to further run tests. Upon testing the system, they found that the dual capacitor was below tolerance on the compressor side, the contactor was severely burned and pitted, the outdoor fan motor had oil loss and severe dragging, and the electrical whip was cracked and frayed. Additionally, they found that the elbow connecting unit to the roof had cracks in the sealant around the unit, which can cause loss of efficiency and comfortability. Due to the condition of the system and the cost of repairs, it was recommended to the customer to consider a system replacement. They agreed and scheduled a new system consultation.
